In 1891 R.W. Smith Albert Eadie took over townsend cycle company in Rediditch, UK.
In 1893 Enfield manufacturing limited became Royal Enfield. Royal was taken from Royal small arms company and it was in the same year the trademark "Made like gun" is introduced.
In 1898 R.W. Smith designed a motorised quadricycle.
In 1901 first Royal Enfield motorcycle is produced. It was designed by R.W Smith and Jules Gotiet.
In 1924 iconic sports model 351 was produced. It was 350cc four stroke with foot operated gear shifts. In the same year a 225cc two stroke Ladies model is introduced.
In 1932 company made very legendary bullet with 250, 350, and 500cc engine options.
In 1955 Redditch company partnered with Madras motors in India to form Enfield India.
In 1964 Continental GT cafe racer is introduced.
In 1993 Enfield India manufactured world's first diesel motorcycle.
In 1994 Eicher group took over Enfield India and named it Royal Enfield motors limited.
In 2001 Thuderbird was launched in India.
In 2016 Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan.
